Our mission is to enable the transparent and timely transfer of intelligence, with a particular focus on Europe and Emerging Markets. To this end, we develop a comprehensive understanding of each client’s needs and identify industry experts and senior advisors that can provide vital intelligence for the most critical business decisions.
Management
Atheneum Partners was established by former management consultants and financial investment advisors from renowned educational institutions and firms. They have a combined transaction experience of more than 350 M&A deals in over 30 countries, ranging from Colombia to Abu Dhabi.
Mathias Wengeler (Founder and CEO)
has extensive due diligence experience with L.E.K. Consulting in Munich and Boston, during which he worked on over 80 private investment transactions across Europe and the Americas. His prior work experience includes Goldman Sachs, Rothschild & Sons, Merrill Lynch in London, and Oliver Wyman in Munich and Dubai. Mathias holds a triple degree in International Management from ESCP-EAP Grande École in Paris and a Basisdoctoraal in Economics from the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands.

Ammad Ahmad (Co-Founder and COO)
has helped Fortune 100 companies in the United States create industry specific best practices and corporate strategy. He worked at Kaiser Associates, as well as The Advisory Board in Washington, DC, a leading US based senior expert network and best practice research firm. His experience includes advisory services on investment strategies for leading companies, such as the Microsoft Corporation, the Coca-Cola Company and the MasterCard Corporation. Ammad is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and holds masters’ degrees from the WHU School of Management in Koblenz and the Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, Germany where he was a Joachim Herz Fellow owing to his international work experience and academic background.

Elena de la Fuente Ojeda (Co-Founder and Head of Emerging Markets)
has provided advice to some of the largest private corporations covering telecommunications, infrastructure and consumer goods in Europe, North Africa and South America for Oliver Wyman. She also gained extensive finance experience in New York by working in venture capital and IB, participating in more than 25 transnational commercial due diligences assignments. In addition Elena is a social entrepreneur and is currently developing projects in Colombia. Elena has a double degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Zurich, Switzerland and Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain.

Dr. Carlos Jerez-Hanckes (Co-Founder and Head of Latin America)
currently holds lecturer positions at both the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zürich, Switzerland, and the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He previously worked as a corporate finance analyst for Celfin Capital, a leading Latin American investment bank, and conducted research projects on the development of novel technologies in aerospace and telecommunication companies, such as THALES S.A. and EPCOS A.G. Carlos earned a doctorate and master’s degree in Applied Mathematics at Ecole Polytechnique in France, as well as a master’s and bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Electrical Engineering at Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.

Isaac Mandel (Co-Founder and Head of Real Estate)
has several years experience working around the world as a business development consultant for Israeli and European companies. During this time, he consulted with top hedge funds, public real estate companies and energy focused investors. Isaac studied Architecture in Jerusalem and Investment Advisory at Megamot College in Israel.

David Chen (Head of Asia)
has extensive transaction and investment experience in China and the US. He worked at large institutions including Salomon Brothers, Advanced Micro Devices, Honda Motor and at specialty boutique investment banks, where he helped a number of clients pursue and complete cross-border M&A and financing transactions. In addition, David is a co-founder of AngelVest, an investment group helping angel investors identify and invest in early stage companies in China. David earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester and MBA from Harvard Business School.

Dan McFadden (Chief Technology Officer)
is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Atheneum Platform, a technology-supported software solution that connects Atheneum Partners’ Management Team, professionals, clients and industry specialists around the world. Dan has more than 18 years of experience as an Information Technology Professional with responsibilities in all areas of corporate technology and operations support. He previously worked for Gerson Lehrman Group, an expert network based in the United States, where he was a Senior Internet Systems Engineer.
